Stop Carney's Imperialist Defence Industrial Strategy
Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, David McGuinty, Minister of Defence
- Mark Carney’s $180B Defence Industrial Strategy is in full compliance with Donald Trump’s demand that Canada contribute 5% of its GDP toward NATO.
- Instead of upholding international law, it deepens our complicity with illegal US wars, sanctions and genocide while leaving us even more vulnerable to annexation.
- $38.6B of this $180B will go toward NORAD, a continental defense pact that would make it very difficult for our military to defend our borders should the US decide to invade Canada.
- It will require cuts to health, education and other social services while providing very few jobs and economic benefit to ordinary Canadians.
- It will put Canada on a “war footing” to the exclusion of diplomacy, dialogue and negotiation as a way to resolve conflict and create long lasting peace.

We, the undersigned citizens and residents of Canada, call upon you to redirect this $180B toward health care, education, affordable housing and services that support ordinary Canadians, and to remove Canada from NATO, and all other military agreements that support US aggression including continental integration and attempts at annexation.
