Tell Congress: Remedy VA Budget Shortfalls

My Elected Leader

IMPORTANT: Do not use a government email, government equipment, or agency time to sign or disseminate this petition.

This year’s VA budget shortfall could prevent 7 million veterans from receiving their benefits.

The VA has estimated that it has spent nearly $15 billion over its budget, nearly three times larger than previously estimated, and its excuses for this overspending don’t add up.

They claim they’ve had greater-than-expected private care growth and continue to push care privatization.

They also insist there are higher-than-expected staff levels, but VA workers know that there is a staffing shortage. There have even been hiring freezes for front-line workers and forced reassignments at VA facilities nationwide while highly paid managers are still being hired.

AFGE NVAC has been working tirelessly with elected officials to stop these devastating cuts, but we need your help.

If this shortfall is not remedied by September 20th, the VA says that 7 million veterans will not receive their benefits on October 1st. Sign this petition to tell Congress to remedy this budget shortfall to ensure our veterans have no lapse in their care.

We cannot allow our nation’s heroes to be left without their benefits simply because the VA failed to budget properly and continues to pursue costly privatization. Join us in urging our elected leaders to prioritize remedying this shortfall to ensure that VA workers can continue caring for our veterans.
