Grant Westergard has submitted an application for GW Livestock 3, which would put a 2,499 head hog factory farm only half a mile from the closest neighbor's home.

Neighbors and concerned community members are worried about negative public health impacts caused by living near factory farms; pollution and degradation of water or other natural resources; and the continued extraction of wealth/resources from the county by factory farms.

Where independent family farmers used to be the lifeblood of rural Iowa, the factory farm model extracts resources and profits hollowing out our main streets and local economies.

At 2,499 the application is only one pig away from permiting threshold that would allow the County Board of Supervisors to weigh in on the application. That's why we are petitioning Grant Westergard to listen to the concerns of his community and withdraw his application for GW Livestock 3.
