Stop Louisiana from Poisoning Primary Schools!
Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality and Louisiana Department of Natural Resources
A new chemical plant, called Air Products, in St John, Tangipahoa, and Livingston Parish has announced plans to build in the Burnside area near Sorrento Primary School. The company has also filed a permit for a test well in Lake Maurepas, which many of us know needs to be preserved at all costs. In the future, the company plans to build over 15 injection wells to dump liquid carbon dioxide from the plant under Lake Maurepas, threatening our aquifers and the lake ecosystem.
Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality and Louisiana Department of Natural Resources need to be contacted about our concerns building Carbon Capture and Storage plant right next to a primary school.
Please sign this letter if you would like more information on the project and an opportunity to attend a public hearing.

I am asking for a public comment period and public hearing on Air Products Blue Energy LLC's air permit application for its proposed facility in Darrow, Ascension Parish, Louisiana (AI 233211).
We are residents of Ascension Parish that would be impacted by the proposed facility and is concerned about the adverse air impacts to area residents as well as the nearby primary school. EPA data show that we should need more information regarding the effects of an ammonia/blue hydrogen facility. Please provide more transparency. The project also requires construction of pipelines in St. James and St. John parish, drilling 37 miles below Lake Maurepas destroying this wildlife Management area, and building a chemical plant near the school. All this is alarming and needs to be explained to the public.
We urge LDEQ to grant our community members the opportunity to provide information for LDEQ to consider in conducting its public trust analysis and assessing applicable requirements before issuing a final decision on the pending application.
