Stop the expansion of the Oakland airport!

The Port of Oakland wants to add 16 new gates to the Oakland airport. This would mean more flights creating more childhood asthma from greater air pollution, more heart disease from greater noise-induced stress, and more climate crisis from greater greenhouse gas emissions!

Your proposed expansion and modernization of the Oakland airport not only contradicts California's efforts to fight the climate crisis and reduce air pollution but also poses a significant threat to the health of all the residents of East Oakland, so many of whom are Black and brown people, and beyond.
It is evident that this initiative prioritizes the profits of airline corporations and the convenience of air travelers over the health and well-being of the affected community.
Such actions perpetuate environmental injustice and racism, exacerbating the existing climate crisis and local pollution burdens that the Oakland community is already grappling with.
I urge you to put the health of the community, and the fate of the planet, ahead of the interests of the airline corporations, and cancel the Oakland airport expansion plans.
