Stop Outsourcing Our Work
HCMC Management
As we all found out recently, HCMC leadership is intent on outsourcing the work that we do processing the radiology charges. The impact is that they will cut two vacant FTEs now and another two FTEs through attrition.
We are worried that this has the potential to be just the start of outsourcing our work to cheap labor and threatens the integrity of the quality work we do every day.
Please sign this petition to let management know that we do not support outsourcing in our department.

Dear HCMC Leadership,
As HCMC employees in the Coding Department, we demand that the hospital's work redesign efforts in our department does not include ANY outsourcing of our work. Outsourcing the work to cheap labor undermines the hard work of the skilled and dedicated employees that have been the backbone contributing to the hospital's success for decades. We all deserve decent wages, benefits, and working conditions to support our families.
The mission of HCMC is to “partner with our community, our patients and their families to ensure access to outstanding care for everyone, while improving health and wellness through teaching, patient and community education, and research.” And the Values of the organization are: Patient & Family Centered, Excellence, Teamwork, Respect, Integrity, and Compassion.
Outsourcing in the coding department would undermine HCMC’s mission and values. Past experience of contracting the work in our department has yielded numerous denials, undermining the mission to provide “outstanding care” by creating aggravation on the back end of the patient’s experience with our organization. Outsourcing would reduce the Excellence, Teamwork, and Integrity of the work product and does not Respect and have Compassion for the employees who currently perform this work.
Outsourcing this work is a race to the bottom. We do not support any outsourcing. This has to stop.
