We, the undersigned students, families, educators, and community members, call on the San Francisco Unified School District and Board of Education to stop student pushout, count every loss of instructional time, fully implement the Safe and Supportive Schools Policy, and invest in the supports students need to succeed.
The actions below are a necessary path toward meeting the district’s Guardrail 2 commitment of creating safe, welcoming, and supportive schools where every student can learn and thrive.

1. STOP SILENT SUSPENSIONS
Document suspensions and informal removals, including classroom removals, referrals, early pickups, shortened school days, and students sent home.
Create consistent districtwide definitions and data systems.
Make repeated removals automatically trigger student supports and intervention.
Resume regular reporting on implementation of the Safe and Supportive Schools Policy.

2. IMPLEMENT AND FUND SUPPORTS
Fully implement the Safe and Supportive Schools Policy
Fully implement a clear, districtwide Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
Establish clear Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 interventions, referral processes, staffing structures, and timelines.
Invest in high-dosage literacy and math intervention and other academic supports.

3. PROTECT STUDENTS WITH IEPs
Fully staff and resource special education.
Ensure students consistently receive the services and supports required by their IEPs.
Track when removals cause students to lose special education services or instructional minutes.
Ensure discipline practices comply with protections for students with disabilities.

4. RESTORE COMMUNITY ACCOUNTABILITY
Reestablish meaningful community oversight of discipline as outlined in the Safe and Supportive Schools Policy
Include students, families, educators, unions, and community organizations in oversight.
Give advisory bodies access to relevant data before major decisions.
Include community recommendations early in budgeting, LCAP, and implementation decisions.
