Stop the Execution of Donald Dillbeck in Florida

Florida Board of Executive Clemency & Governor Ron DeSantis

Donald Dillbeck is scheduled for execution in Florida on February 23, 2023 for the 1990 murder of Faye Vann in Tallahassee. Please sign this petition asking Governor DeSantis to reopen the clemency process and grant clemency to Donald Dillbeck.

The Donald Dillbeck of today is not the same person he was when he committed the crime that sent him to death row. Donald has been active with the Unconditional Freedom Project, which helps people repurpose the experience of incarceration from mere punishment to something truly restorative. Donald has became a teacher, mentor and writes a column in their newsletter, such as this and this. Donald is not a danger in prison - in fact, he is the opposite - a beacon for peace, love and reconciliation. He accepts that he will never be free and hope to be allowed to continue as a positive influence among prisoners.

Florida's possible return to executions after more than three years marks it as an outlier in its use of the death penalty. The majority of other states are on a downward trend of executions. Please sign the petition asking Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida State Board of Executive Clemency to do everything within their power to stop this execution, including issuing a stay, and seeking a path to clemency in the case.

We are writing to ask that you to stop the February 23, 2023 execution of Donald Dillbeck in revenge for his 1990 murder of Faye Vann in Tallahassee.

We recognize that you have denied clemency once, but it is in your power to reopen the process and reconsider this opportunity to show mercy.

We are further concerned that while the vast majority of states with capital punishment continue on a downward trend of executions, Florida is going against trend by resuming executions.

We, the undersigned, ask that you do everything within your power to stop this execution, including issuing a stay, and seeking a path to clemency in the case.
