Stop the Execution of Lance Shockley in Missouri

Lance Shockley is scheduled for execution in Missouri on October 14, 2025 for his alleged 2005 murder of Carl Graham Jr.

There are significant concerns about the guilt of Mr. Shockley which are explored in his official campaign web page, here. Lance's conviction and subsequent appeals have raised significant concerns regarding the integrity of the trial process and the effectiveness of his legal representation
There was no physical evidence linking Mr. Shockley to the crime, and witnesses were pressured by law enforcement to alter their statements.
The forensic and ballistic evidence used at trial has been widely discredited as unreliable, bordering on junk science.
Compounding these concerns, Mr. Shockley received inadequate legal representation, and juror misconduct has been clearly documented.
Most alarmingly, despite a jury deadlocked on the question of sentencing, the judge imposed the death penalty rather than life without parole—raising grave concerns about the fairness and legitimacy of the sentence itself.
These factors collectively leave more than reasonable doubt and call for clemency in the name of justice.

"Hi. My name is [your name]. I am calling to express my deep concern that the State of Missouri is pushing forward with the execution of Lance Shockely on October 14 despite serious issues with his case. There is no physical evidence linking Mr. Shockley to the crime and witnesses were pressured by law enforcement to alter their statements. His case is also rife with forensic "science" that has been discredited for its unreliability. Add to that inadequate legal representation, juror misconduct, and judicial override and we have ourselves an alarming situation. I am calling to politely urge Gov. Kehoe to consider granting relief to Mr. Shockley. Thank you."
We believe in accountability, but true accountability does not require execution. A sentence of life without the possibility of parole protects society while also recognizing the human capacity for redemption and the role of childhood trauma in shaping adult behavior.
Missouri does not need the death penalty to be safe. This execution will not
make us safer, it will simply add another act of violence to an already
tragic story. Justice does not require death. Missouri's continued use of
executions marks the state as an outlier in its use of the death
penalty. The majority of other states are on a downward trend of
executions.
Please sign the petition asking Governor Mike Parson to do everything within his power to stop this execution, including issuing a stay, and seeking a path to clemency in the case.
Petitions will be delivered on your behalf in the days leading up to the execution.

We are writing to ask you to stop the October 14, 2025 scheduled execution of Lance Shockley, who was sentenced to death for his alleged 2005 murder of Carl Graham Jr.
Lance's conviction and subsequent appeals have raised significant concerns regarding the integrity of the trial process and the effectiveness of his legal representation
* There was no physical evidence linking Mr. Shockley to the crime, and witnesses were pressured by law enforcement to alter their statements.
* The forensic and ballistic evidence used at trial has been widely discredited as unreliable, bordering on junk science.
* Compounding these concerns, Mr. Shockley received inadequate legal representation, and juror misconduct has been clearly documented.
* Most alarmingly, despite a jury deadlocked on the question of sentencing, the judge imposed the death penalty rather than life without parole—raising grave concerns about the fairness and legitimacy of the sentence itself.
These factors collectively leave more than reasonable doubt and call for clemency in the name of justice.
We are further concerned that while the vast majority of states with capital punishment continue on a downward trend of executions, Missouri is going against this trend by resuming and increasing the frequency of executions.
We, the undersigned, ask that you do everything within your power to stop this execution, including issuing a stay, and seeking a path to clemency in the case. By commuting his sentence to life in prison without the possibility of parole, you will send a message that the State of Missouri does not need the death penalty to be safer, and that it only serves to perpetuate the cycle of violence.
Thank you for your time and attention to this urgent matter.
