'Hi. My name is [your name]. I am calling to ask that Gov. DeSantis stops the execution of Michael Tanzi on April 8, 2025. We can be safe from people who have committed great harm and hold them accountable without killing them. It is what we do in most cases."

Executing Michael for the worst thing he has ever done does not make the people of the State of Florida any safer. Without a doubt, he is not the same person who committed his crimes so many years ago.

Hear from Michael in his own words(provided by IHFL):

"When I look back on my life my regrets are endless. My choices are what I have to live with and I'm okay with that. As my life continues to move forward I'm no longer living in the past and blaming others for my behavior.

I've taken full responsibility for my actions and I'm feeling content. Prison saved my life. I would have never made it to 30 years old. I thank God for reentering my life and giving me the opportunity to find balance and change through His word. I am grateful to those people whom I've found over the years who have stayed in touch and helped me grow into a better person. Without them I don't know what kind of person I'd be today.

So as you read this you may see that you can relate to what I've been through or know of someone who is struggling to find their path in life, I just hope I can help you as you help me.
"

Florida's continued use of executions marks the state as an outlier in its use of the death penalty. The majority of other states are on a downward trend of executions.

Please sign the petition asking Governor Ron DeSantis and the Florida State Board of Executive Clemency to do everything within their power to stop this execution, including issuing a stay, and seeking a path to clemency in the case.

We are writing in regards to the scheduled execution of Michael Tanzi in Florida - set for April 8, 2025 in response to the 2000 murder of Janet Acosta.

We firmly believe that Mr. Tanzi should be separated from society and held accountable for his actions, which life without the possibility of parole satisfies.

By commuting his sentence to life in prison without the possibility of parole, you will send a message that the State of Florida does not need the death penalty to be safer, and that it only serves to perpetuate the cycle of violence.

Furthermore, we are concerned that while the vast majority of states with capital punishment continue on a downward trend of executions, Florida is going against this trend by resuming and increasing the frequency of executions.

We, the undersigned, ask that you do everything within your power to stop this execution, including issuing a stay, and seeking a path to clemency in the case.
