Stop the Maestro College Title IV Fraud & Data Exploitation
The U.S. Congress, Senators, Department of Education (DOE), and Office of Inspector General (OIG)
We, the undersigned students, taxpayers, and allies, are calling for an immediate federal investigation into the predatory exploitation, data harvesting, and Title IV financial aid fraud occurring at Maestro College (owned by Masterschool).
Maestro aggressively targeted vulnerable, non-traditional populations with the promise of a free, cutting-edge "ivy league" education. Many of us are primary caregivers for multi-generational households, raising special needs children, or caring for sick family members, seeking a degree to build a stable life. Instead, we are trapped in a regulatory nightmare that is siphoning federal tax dollars and compromising U.S. citizen data. The DOE and OIG have continually passed the buck, leaving students facing financial ruin.
We demand immediate congressional intervention regarding the following systemic violations:
Catastrophic PII Data Breach & Cover-Up: On July 28, 2026, Maestro College transmitted a 54-page document containing the completely unredacted personal, medical, and private casework information of roughly 1,200 students and staff. Maestro has yet to legally notify a single affected party. When this breach was exposed, the administration retaliated by doxxing the whistleblower, initiating forced withdrawals, and issuing legal threats of up to $50,000 to coerce silence.
Foreign Data Harvesting & Spyware: Masterschool is a tech lab founded by former members of Israeli military intelligence, IDF Unit 81. They lured students with "free" laptops to access our Title IV Pell Grants, only revealing post-enrollment that these devices are conditional loaners. These federally funded laptops are loaded with Mobile Device Management (MDM) spyware, granting a foreign entity remote surveillance access over American citizens on U.S. soil.
Academic Fraud & Predatory Leadership: There are no human professors and zero professional interaction. Maestro relies entirely on AI bots to grade coursework, blatantly violating federal Regular and Substantive Interaction (RSI) standards and the mandate that 25% of students attend a physical campus. They are intentionally violating the 90/10 rule by deriving 94% of their funding directly from Title IV. To bypass oversight, they acquired Peloton College—a school with a history of False Claims Act Qui Tam lawsuits—and retained Campus President Shakeitha Sims, whose resume is built entirely on shuttered, predatory for-profit schools.
The June 30, 2027 Teach-Out Trap: Because of these massive regulatory failures, Maestro is losing its accreditation effective June 30, 2027. Their approved "teach-out" plan forces students to take on $13,000 a year in unexpected loans—exactly $26,000 to finish a two-year degree we were promised would be free.
We are being forced to choose between abandoning our education, losing our ability to secure housing for our vulnerable families, or taking on crippling, unauthorized debt.
We demand:
An Immediate Congressional Inquiry into Masterschool’s data practices, specifically examining the use of U.S. tax dollars to fund foreign MDM spyware and data harvesting.
A Debt-Free Educational Pathway provided by the DOE to ensure students can finish their education without the financial ruin of the $26,000 teach-out trap.
Financial Restitution & Release forcing Maestro to drop all institutional holds tied to the deceptive laptop scheme, and a full discharge of the Pell Grants wasted on these unaccredited, bot-run courses.
Sign below to demand the Department of Education and U.S. Congress hold Maestro College accountable and protect our federal funds and data privacy.
