Stop the Senate confirmation of Trump-Russia boss Sam Clovis

US Senate

The US Senate is holding a confirmation hearing next week for George Papadopoulos' boss on the Trump campaign, Sam Clovis. In light of FBI Special Counsel Robert Mueller's announcement this week that Papadopoulos is at the center of the Trump-Russia scandal, Clovis' confirmation needs to stop, now.

Add your name, demand the Senate put on hold the confirmation of Sam Clovis for the top science post at the Department of Agriculture.

Papadopoulos, you may remember, is the Trump campaign senior foreign policy aide who was contacted by Russian intermediaries, claiming they had "thousands" of Hillary Clinton's stolen emails. Papadopoulos' supervisor on the Trump campaign, who according to FBI documents was kept regularly in the loop on Papadopoulos' Russia activities, was Trump Department of Agriculture nominee Sam Clovis.

Clovis' confirmation hearing in the US Senate is November 9. Now, Clovis was already a terrible nominee. He's the first non-scientist appointed to the Department of Agriculture's top science post. But now, thanks to FBI Special Counsel Mueller, we know that Clovis is at the center of the Trump-Russia scandal as Papadopoulos' boss on the campaign.

What did Papadopoulos tell Clovis about his Russia activities?

Was Clovis told that the Russians claimed to have thousands of Hillary's stolen emails?

Was Clovis offered those emails?

Did he receive them?

What did Clovis tell others on the campaign? Did he inform Sessions, Kushner, Don Jr. and Trump himself?

Did Clovis contact the FBI about what he learned from Papadopoulos, and if not, why not?

There are a lot of questions about Sam Clovis, and few answers. There is no way the United States Senate should be confirming Sam Clovis to any high-level government position when such serious questions about Russia's effort to compromise our election remain unanswered.

Add your name, demand the Senate freeze the confirmation of Sam Clovis for the top science post at the Department of Agriculture.
