Stop Trump’s Offshore Drilling in Alaska

Department of Interior, BOEM

The Trump administration has released a sweeping offshore drilling plan that would open nearly 1.3 billion acres of U.S. ocean waters to new oil and gas development, an area more than half the size of the continental United States.

The plan includes some of the most controversial drilling zones in the country, including the High Arctic, the California coast, and the Eastern Gulf near Florida, places where both Republican and Democratic governors have consistently opposed offshore drilling because of its threat to coastal economies, military operations, and fishing industries.

We have until January 23, 2026 to STOP THIS and protect some of our last remaining wild places. Help us stop offshore drilling in Alaska by signing our petition below, which we will share as a comment in the official Department of Interior, BOEM portal.

I am writing to urge you to oppose the Trump administration’s plan to open up 1.3 billion acres of U.S. ocean waters to new oil and gas development. Offshore drilling threatens coastal economies that depend on clean water and healthy oceans and endangers some of the most fragile and iconic marine species in U.S. waters.

The plan also diverts attention and resources from clean energy solutions that are faster, cheaper, and safer. The Trump administration is choosing to double down on a fuel source with volatile prices and known risks instead of investing in energy sources that reduce pollution and stabilize long-term costs.

As a concerned citizen I am asking DOI, BOEM to:

Cancel any pending or proposed offshore lease sales in Alaska, California, and Florida
Strengthen long-term protections for the Arctic and Alaska’s coastal ecosystems.
Prioritize clean energy investment that supports sustainable jobs and community well-being.

Coastal governors from both parties oppose this plan because new drilling creates more risk than benefit. California’s Democratic governor, Gavin Newsom, and Florida’s Republican governor, Ron Desantis, publicly rejected the proposal within hours of its release. I urge you to follow suit and protect our public waters.
