Stop Using Our Faith to Promote Trump's Bigotry and Your Own

Shalabh Kumar, Founding Chair, Republican Hindu Coalition; Donald J. Trump, American bigot

The Republican Hindu Coalition is hosting an entertainment event and fundraiser headlined by Donald J. Trump on Saturday, October 15, 2016 in Edison, NJ as part of a broader effort to promote Trump among Hindu fundamentalists.

Trump has attacked Muslims, immigrants, Latinx people, the disabled, women, the working class, the poor, and many, many other groups of people.  The RHC, by hosting Trump, is showing its true colors as a sponsor of bigoted violence in the United States, India, and elsewhere around the world.

Don't let them speak in your name or your community's!   Reclaim your culture from people like the RHC and Trump by protesting the event in person in New Jersey on Saturday, tweeting under #SouthAsiansDumpTrump, and signing the petition below!

FYI this petition will likely be circulated to the press.

“Statement on Trump ‘Humanity United Against Terror’ Event in New Jersey”
October 14, 2016

We are a group of South Asian-Americans raised in the Hindu tradition. This statement expresses our strong concerns about the efforts of the Republican Hindu Coalition to sponsor an event called “Humanity United Against Terror’ in New Jersey this weekend.

By bringing the disgusting Mr. Trump to their event, the Republican Hindu Coalition has made it clear exactly what they support: anti-minority bigotry, xenophobia, anti-Muslim discrimination, majoritarian violence, misogyny, social oppression, and harm to the poor and vulnerable. Not in our name.

Whether the targets are Muslims, Latinx migrants, Black people, women, and the working class in the United States or Muslims, Dalits, adivasis, the poor, the working class, and women in India, we are all harmed by the violence perpetuated by Trump, as well as Hindu fundamentalists in India and the diaspora, and others like them around the world.

We will always stand in solidarity with vulnerable groups against opportunistic rightwing narcissists--usually men like Mr. Trump--who are willing to employ rhetorical and physical violence for their own gains.

Republican Hindu Coalition and Donald Trump, please go away. You do not speak for us, and should not be profiting off of the faith tradition we were brought up in to promote your noxious brand of bigotry and political violence.

We urge all South Asian-Americans to express their concerns visibly and loudly. Because South Asians stand up to racism, xenophobia, homophobia, misogyny and Islamophobia. That is why #SouthAsiansDumpTrump.
