Stop Wage Theft at the Ports

LA Mayor Eric Garcetti & Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia

Wage theft caused by misclassification is commonplace among the more than 15,000 port drivers and warehouse workers at the Ports of LA and Long Beach. Because of this, workers are denied compensation when they are injured, unemployment when they are laid off, and the right to join together to bargain for better wages and working conditions.

Thousands of port drivers and warehouse workers are coming together to fight injustice, prejudice, wage theft, and misclassification.  These working class heroes have gone on strike, stood up to be counted and gone to court to stop the corporate lawbreaking at our nation’s largest ports.

It turns out real superheroes wear vests.  Several port drivers and warehouse workers have hand-delivered letters to Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia calling on their leadership to put a stop to companies that continue to break the law while operating at the ports.

I support the thousands of port drivers and warehouse workers in their struggle to fight injustice, prejudice, wage theft, and misclassification. These working class heroes have gone on strike, stood up to be counted and gone to court to stop the corporate lawbreaking at our nation’s largest ports. It turns out real superheroes wear vests.

The Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach should set a highroad example for what kind of country we want to live in. The time for your bold leadership to stop the war on workers in America is now.
