Student Loyalty Pledge Sign On

The Colorado State University Administration, Amy Parson's, Tony Frank, Matt Tillman

We must demonstrate student, staff, and community member solidarity in the face of conformity by the CSU administration. Signing on to this compact is essential in proving to admin that we have momentum behind out movement. This is our counter measure to the Trump administration's Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education

Here is the finalized petition:

Student Loyalty Pledge

Whereas, Colorado State University infringed on the constitutional right to free speech by unilaterally implementing the restrictive 2025 Free Speech and Peaceful Assembly Policy on August 14, 2025, without student, faculty, or staff consultation as is typical within the policy making process;

Whereas, Colorado State University infringed on academic freedom by introducing restrictions on expressive activities permitted for all Colorado State University employees, including in instances of speaking in an official capacity, public commentary, and using university resources;

Whereas, enforcement of the 2025 policy resulted in an administrator monitoring student speech and threatening Colorado State University students with a student conduct code violation and a trespassing citation for exercising their constitutional right to free speech on October 7, 2025;

Whereas, under the guise of regular campus cleaning, Colorado State University continues to power-wash chalk, particularly on the Lory Student Center Plaza and on several instances within six to eight hours of the messages being written, though this is a departure from past practices;

Whereas, Colorado State University failed to safeguard the education and safety of international students by declining to challenge unjust visa revocations;

Whereas, the Colorado State University career center has hosted Customs and Border Patrol using university resources;

Whereas, Colorado State University has endangered student safety by failing to communicate about whether ICE or the Department of Homeland Security was on campus, and has neglected to find a system to alert the campus community of these activities;

Whereas, the cultural resource centers have been silenced on topics related to trans identity and broader discussions of identity, as part of a broader theme of erasure of marginalized groups from the websites and educational materials of Colorado State University;

Whereas, the quiet and unilateral removal of pronouns, gender markers, and name preference from Ramweb has harmed marginalized students;

Whereas, these changes were unilaterally implemented without consideration or consultation of the student body, faculty, and staff – thereby showing a failure on the part of Colorado State University to uphold its own Principles of Community, particularly social justice and inclusion;

Be it resolved that, as the United Front, we condemn the decision of the Colorado State University administration to implement these policy changes;

Be it resolved that, the University honors its reversal of the 2025 Free Speech and Peaceful Assembly Policy;

Be it further resolved that, Colorado State University students, faculty, staff, and community members demand that a statement formally recommitting to uphold the first amendment be issued to the student body by Colorado State University;

Be it finally resolved that, the administration pledges noncompliance to the demands of the Trump administration, and their attacks on higher education through:

  1. Rejecting the Trump Administration's Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education should it come to Colorado State University – as seven of the nine targeted universities have done.

  2. Providing transparency regarding America First Legal's and the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights June 24th complaint against the University for the Universities diversity, equity, and inclusion programs. Specifically, transparency around changes the University made following this legal complaint.

  3. Collaborating with students, faculty, staff, and the wider Colorado State University community in order to democratize the policy making process and foster transparency.

  4. Maintaining and building upon communication with organizations that work with undocumented student communities in order to develop an action plan if Immigration and Customs Enforcement comes to Colorado State University.

  5. Signing this Student Loyalty Pledge, thus demonstrating a desire to side with Colorado State University students.

  6. Ensuring that the changes made through the signing of this compact are adhered to, and not reversed.

Admin Signature, signifying a loyalty to the Colorado State University student body and campus community:
