The Trump administration is considering allowing Big Polluters to spew more mercury, arsenic, and other toxic heavy metals as they want into our air. This puts OUR health at grave risk since mercury is a potent neurotoxin that causes permanent damage to the brains of babies and fetuses, and can lead to blindness, loss of coordination, speech impairment, and more with repeated exposure.

The Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS) have achieved a 90% reduction in mercury pollution from power plants and cleaned up dangerous soot at the same time.

We must stop the Trump administration’s Polluters First Agenda. They are required to listen to the public before taking action. Tell them what you think - tell them to leave strong mercury pollution protections in place.

I do not support the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) plan to weaken the Mercury and Air Toxic Standards (MATS).

Coal-fired power plants release mercury and other toxics into our air, finding their way into our lungs, water, and food. Mercury in particular is a potent neurotoxin that causes permanent damage to the brains of babies and fetuses, leading to developmental delays, learning disabilities, and birth defects. The other air pollutants, like arsenic, are just as dangerous and linked to cancer; damage to the eyes, skin, and breathing passages; harm to kidneys, lungs, and nervous system.

But worst of all, these pollutants are killers.

MATS have protected countless lives by reducing mercury pollution by 90% and other dangerous pollutants like arsenic, nickel, and lead, by 81% from coal-fired power plants.

Repealing the stronger mercury pollution standards adopted in 2024 will mean sicker kids and more deaths. And while American families are left to deal with the devastating consequences of more deadly pollution, Big Polluters will increase their profits. This isn’t right.

Protect our air. Do not finalize this dangerous rollback of the Mercury Pollution Standard.
