Every year, millions of animals — mice, rats, birds, snakes, and even beloved pets — suffer agonizing deaths on glue traps.

These devices don't kill quickly. Animals caught on glue traps struggle for hours or days, tearing off their own fur, feathers, or skin trying to escape. They die from exhaustion, dehydration, starvation, or suffocation — all while fully conscious and in pain. Some are still alive when they're thrown in the trash.

Glue traps don't discriminate. Non-target animals — including songbirds, lizards, and cats — are caught and killed routinely. They're sold in hardware stores and supermarkets with no warning about what they actually do.

There is no humane use of a glue trap. They exist only to cause prolonged suffering.

Dozens of countries and retailers worldwide have already taken action to restrict or ban glue traps. We're calling on New York State leadership to do the same. Effective, humane pest control alternatives already exist. There is no justification for continuing to allow these devices to be sold and used.
