Support a fair contract for VSC faculty!

We stand in solidarity with the faculty and negotiation team at the Vermont State Colleges in demanding a fair contract for VSC faculty. VSC faculty salaries are already below average in relation to comparable public institutions, and now the administration has proposed a contract loaded with further cutbacks. The current contract proposals from the administration will make it difficult to recruit and retain faculty.

We call on Chancellor Spaulding and the VSC administration to work with the faculty to settle a contract that:
· Offers fair and reasonable total compensation for current faculty and new hires, including salary, health and retirement benefits
· Compensates faculty for transit time when required to teach on other campuses
· Respects and supports faculty professional development, by maintaining sabbaticals and professional development funds
· Preserves sick time that can be taken as family and parental leave or can be donated and used by other faculty in need
· Respects faculty's work time by either (a) paying for time spent in additional weeks of workshops, retreats, etc. during summer and other off-contract breaks, or (b) not requiring additional unpaid work
