Support future housing in Westchester!

Planning the Westside, LA City Planning Department and Councilmember Traci Park

The community of Westchester, along with the City and County of Los Angeles, are in dire need of more housing affordable at all income levels. Fewer and fewer families can afford to live in Westchester as rents and home prices continue to rise. The city needs to hear from residents who want more affordable housing in Westchester.

Dear Planning Department Staff,

I am writing in support of new housing at all levels of affordability for the Westchester neighborhood of Los Angeles. The types of zoning changes proposed in the current draft of the Westchester/Playa del Rey Community Plan Update are essential to enable both the volume of additional housing we need and the kinds of development that will make this a more affordable and sustainable community.

Additional housing at all income levels, for renters and prospective owners, will allow more of the Westchester workforce to live near their jobs, and more young people who grew up here to continue to make Westchester their home. New commercial development will support a robust economy into the future and, through well-designed mixed-use projects, create more lively and walkable neighborhoods.

The Community Plan Update is an opportunity to set a course for a more accessible, sustainable and vibrant Westchester. Thank you for assuring that these goals are embodied in our community planning process.
