Para Español

We, the undersigned residents and supporters of Virginia communities, respectfully urge you to sign SB446 and HB911 into law.

Virginia’s Driver Privilege Card program, first passed in 2020, has helped thousands of residents drive legally, obtain insurance, and comply with road safety standards. This has strengthened road safety and improved the well-being of families across the Commonwealth.

SB446 and HB911 will improve the program by:

• Extending the validity of Driver Privilege Cards from 2 years to 8 years
• Aligning the appearance of Driver Privilege Cards with standard non-REAL ID licenses
• Reducing administrative burdens for families and state agencies
• Helping workers, parents, and students travel safely to work, school, medical appointments, and essential services

The legislation will also extend the validity of Privilege Identification Cards from 4 years to 8 years, providing greater stability for many Virginia residents who rely on these cards for everyday identification, including when picking up their children from school.

By signing SB446 and HB911 into law, Virginia will continue to promote safer roads, stronger communities, and a more efficient system for all residents.

We respectfully ask you to sign SB446/HB911 into law.

Dear Governor Spanberger,

As a resident and supporter of Virginia communities, I respectfully urge you to sign SB446 and HB911 into law.

These bills will strengthen Virginia’s Driver Privilege Card program by extending the validity of driver privilege cards from 2 years to 8 years and aligning their appearance with standard non-REAL ID licenses. This change will reduce administrative burdens for families and state agencies while helping ensure that more drivers remain licensed and insured.

The legislation will also extend the validity of privilege identification cards from 4 years to 8 years, providing stability for many Virginia residents who rely on these IDs for daily activities such as interacting with schools, workplaces, and community services.

By signing SB446 and HB911, you will support safer roads, stronger communities, and greater stability for thousands of Virginia families.

I respectfully ask that you sign SB446 and HB911 into law.
