Demand that San Diego Take a Stand For Due Process and Against Federal Abuse

San Diego City Council

For nearly nine months, the Trump Administration has escalated attacks on our Constitution and our communities. From masked agents ripping a father from his car in City Heights to targeting Latino neighborhoods and workplaces, we’ve seen how lawless raids impose terror and erode safety.

That’s why Councilmember Sean Elo-Rivera and regional partners are introducing the Due Process and Safety Ordinance: a bold, citywide policy that puts legal guardrails in place to ensure San Diego is never complicit in federal abuses.

The ordinance will:

  • Require judicial warrants before federal agents can access non-public City property
  • Prohibit local participation in discriminatory or unauthorized enforcement
  • Extend civil rights protections to City contractors and lessees
  • Establish data privacy standards and multilingual Know Your Rights signage at City facilities

At its core, this ordinance is about making law and order mean something real: transparency, accountability, and respect for the Constitution.

Join our movement by adding your name today to demand that San Diego adopt the Due Process and Safety Ordinance and protect all residents, workers, and visitors — no matter their immigration status, gender, disability, or healthcare decisions.

I support the Due Process and Safety Ordinance. San Diego must ensure that our public resources, facilities, and partnerships are never used to target, surveil, or detain our neighbors without due process. I call on the City Council to adopt this ordinance and protect our communities from federal overreach and unlawful enforcement.
