STATEMENT OF SUPPORT

As a proud supporter of recovery, I proudly endorse the Michigan​ Recovery Advocacy Project's Platform.

The platform was created after listening to people in Recovery of many pathways, family members, and allies that shared their experiences and barriers they are facing in communities all across the state​.

People in recovery and people with lived experience should have their voices heard, be listened to, and be at the table when decisions are being made that impact our community. The following platform created by the recovery community will help identify grassroots and legislative solutions. People in recovery have value and can be a resource to decision makers all across the state.

Together we can reduce common barriers for people in recovery like employment, transportation, access to treatment and health services, and background checks.

We will also focus on housing barriers by advocating to dramatically increase access to safe, standard driven recovery housing, especially for women and children and for all pathways of recovery.

We will also prioritize addiction education and reducing of stigma by humanizing addiction and mental health, supporting prevention in schools, and encourage collaboration between organizations for a united voice.

The last platform item I proudly endorse is more peer and family support services in treatment settings and in our communities. We also advocate for recovery community centers to be established across Michigan to in creaser these supports.

Today, I am joining others in the Recovery Community to have my voice heard and I STAND UP for RECOVERY by endorsing this support statement around the Michigan Platform.
