Support the MoMath Workers Union - DC 37

Friends of the National Museum of Mathematics Senior Administration and Board of Trustees

Dear Friends of the National Museum of Mathematics Senior Administration and Board of Trustees,

As members of the community, we stand in solidarity with the employees who are organizing their union, MoMath Workers Union, through AFSCME Cultural Workers United District Council 37.

The National Museum of Mathematics staff understands the value of having a seat at the table in order to achieve more equal footing in the workplace. We are a collective of both part-time and full-time employees who strive to bridge the divide between senior level staff and the rank-and-file staff members and form a more welcoming environment. We want to come to a workplace everyday where workers are valued, employee time is respected, and less staff turnover occurs as a result.

At the National Museum of Mathematics, we share the concepts, history, and importance of math with the public, including the math that shapes our everyday lives.

Having a union would allow all eligible workers to be able to negotiate our everyday policies, regardless of their full or part-time status. These discussions will allow MoMath staff to build a supportive and enriching workplace that fosters an improved experience for our guests. We are unionizing to have a voice on the job, to empower each other, to improve workplace communication, and to achieve better pay equity at the National Museum of Mathematics.

Sign our community letter to support the MoMath Workers Union and encourage museum administration to recognize our union.

In October 2025, the MoMath Workers Union publicly announced our campaign to unionize the staff of the National Museum of Mathematics through AFSCME Cultural Workers United District Council 37, and we need your support! Please sign our petition so that the National Museum of Mathematics knows its community is behind this effort. Thank you for standing in solidarity!
