The Timber Yards project will create more than 1600 homes, which is enough to make a real dent in Bend's housing shortage.

Even better, this housing is in one of the most walkable parts of town, with access from everything from groceries to all kinds of shopping within a few blocks.

And: it's all on empty land in the middle of town, so no sprawl.

Mayor Kebler, Councilors,

We strongly urge you to approve the Timber Yard plan without delay.

This project will make a real dent in our housing shortage, and it will do so with infill, rather than sprawl, in one of the most walkable, bikeable parts of Bend. This area already has everything, from groceries to medical offices, all within easy walking or biking distance.

We believe it will also strengthen our city's economy by increasing tax revenues, while requiring relatively little new infrastructure. Think of how many miles of new roads and sewers would be needed were these single family units at the edge of town.
