STATEMENT OF SUPPORT

As a proud supporter of recovery, I enthusiastically endorse the Virginia​ Recovery Advocacy Project's Platform.

This platform was developed after hosting multiple listening sessions with the grassroots community across Virginia. Individuals in recovery through multiple pathways, impacted family members, and recovery allies shared their experiences and recovery barriers to create the following:

We believe in equitable access for ALL to same-day, authentic peer recovery support services; to safe, non-discriminatory, & affirming recovery housing; to peer-led recovery community organizations; and to early recovery system navigation & resources.

We believe in peer recovery support services that value community-based, non-governmental organizations as primary providers; are inclusive & culturally competent to LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, & other marginalized communities; and that are supported by realistic Medicaid reimbursement rates.

We believe in eliminating barriers to recovery by supporting diversion & alternative sentencing for justice-involved individuals; by promoting reclassification of simple possession & expungement; by removing barrier crime hurdles to employment & housing; and by ensuring cannabis tax revenue & opioid settlement funds support community-based recovery.

Today, I am joining others in the Recovery Community to have my voice heard and STAND UP for RECOVERY by endorsing this support statement around the 2021 Virginia​ Platform.
