Swifties, Demand RBC defund fossil fuels NOW
RBC CEO, Dave McKay, and RBC senior executives
The Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), Canada’s largest funder of fossil fuels, is sponsoring Taylor Swift’s Canadian Eras Tour. While RBC and its executives claim to be Swifties, the truth is that this is part of the bank’s efforts to greenwash its brand and hide from the reality of its dirty financing.
The truth is that, since 2016,RBC has poured over $256 BILLION USD into dangerous fossil fuel projects endangering the planet and frontline communities.
From financing new tar sands pipelines infringing on the rights of Indigenous peoples, to bankrolling the already-spilling fracked gas Coastal GasLink pipeline on sovereign Wet’suwet’en land, to funding gas expansion on the Gulf Coast polluting the air of predominantly communities of color, RBC continues to bury its proverbial head in the sand when it comes to the need for real climate action. And now, RBC is using Taylor Swift to hide behind the truth of what it funds.
Swifties, (you) want to be defined by the things (you) love, not the things (you) hate, and certainly not the dirty projects that RBC finances. Tell RBC to defund fossil fuels and invest in climate solutions once and for all.

I am a Taylor Swift fan who refuses to let you use your sponsorship of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour to greenwash the reality of your dirty financing practices. We’re in a climate crisis, and RBC continues to fund fossil fuelled devastation like fires, floods, smoke, deadly heat, and more. It’s time for RBC to be a climate leader, divest from fossil fuels, and stop violating Indigenous rights.
