Working families in Louisiana are paying more and getting less from Entergy.
Our bills keep rising while Entergy neglects regular maintenance, lets the electrical grid crumble and leaves us sitting in the dark for days after storms. After Hurricane Ida, Entergy charged customers $3.2 billion for repairs, while handing $1.5 billion to shareholders and giving its CEO a $4 million raise.

Now Entergy is offering nearly one-third of Louisiana’s power grid to Meta for its massive new data center. Entergy claims this deal will lower our bills and strengthen the grid, but an independent report estimates everyday ratepayers will have to pay an additional $8 to $13 every month. Data centers also consume enormous amounts of water and electricity, while accelerating the climate crisis.

Louisianans are tired of paying higher bills so Entergy executives, venture capitalists and Big Tech can profit. Electricity is a basic necessity, not a commodity controlled by a private monopoly.

To build a utility system that serves working people instead of corporate profits, we demand:

1) NO MORE DATA CENTER PARTNERSHIPS!

Entergy is cashing in on Meta’s data center expansion while Louisiana’s electrical grid fails regularly. Working-class families should not be forced to subsidize corporate data centers through higher bills, weakened infrastructure, or environmental destruction.
We demand an end to Entergy partnerships and infrastructure plans that sacrifice Louisiana’s people and resources for private data center profits.

2) CAP ON UTILITY HIKES!

Entergy neglects regular maintenance, leaves families without electricity after storms, and then forces customers to pay for repairs while executives and investors pocket millions.
We demand enforceable limits on residential rate increases. Entergy must not be empowered to pass the costs of their business onto working-class families.

3) KICK ENTERGY OUT OF LOUISIANA POLITICS!

Entergy spends millions influencing Louisiana politicians and the institutions responsible for regulating it. Its political action committee, ENPAC, has funded candidates from both major parties at the state and federal levels.
A private corporation should not be allowed to buy influence over the officials who determine our utility bills and energy policies.
We demand an unconditional end to Entergy’s campaign contributions, political spending, and use of ratepayer money to fund lobbying or political activity. If they have so much extra money, use it to fix the grid.

4) DEMOCRATIC CONTROL OVER UTILITIES!

Entergy is owned by wealthy shareholders and financial institutions such as Vanguard and BlackRock. These corporations answer to their investors, not the families who pay the bills and suffer through blackouts.
Electricity should be a basic right. We demand a system where workers, ratepayers, and communities have public, democratic control over our utilities, so decisions are made for the welfare of people and planet—not private profit

We call on Louisiana's utility regulators and elected officials to use every regulatory, legislative, and executive power available to adopt these demands and protect Louisiana residents from Entergy’s profiteering and political influence.
Louisianans should not have to choose between keeping the lights on, buying groceries, or paying rent while Entergy executives and shareholders grow richer.
