We the undersigned demand that President Biden and the US government immediately drop all charges against Julian Assange and restore his freedom.

Assange is the foremost publisher and journalist of our era, a hero who exposed war crimes, corruption and torture committed by our government in our name. For that he’s been confined for over a decade in the Ecuadorian embassy in London and Belmarsh prison. He’s been subjected to an Orwellian prosecution that has systematically violated the rule of law and due process, character assassination campaigns, and even actual assassination plots.

It’s not just Julian Assange who’s in the crosshairs. If his persecution under Obama, Trump and Biden is allowed to succeed, it will have an extreme chilling effect on any journalist, whistleblower, or anyone who simply wants to reveal the truth about what our government is doing in our name. The future of press freedom and democracy itself is hanging in the balance.

We will not vote for any candidate who supports the persecution of Julian Assange. We will only support candidates who will stand for press freedom and democracy by freeing Assange immediately.
