Tell Coventry City Council to Drop Palantir
Coventry City Councillors
Coventry City Council should end its contract with Palantir and bring data and AI services back under public control. We are calling for transparency, meaningful consultation with residents and trade unions, and properly funded public services instead of dependence on an unethical multinational technology company that is complicit in human rights violations.

We call on Coventry City Council to end its contract with Palantir and bring its data and AI services back under public control.
In September 2025, Coventry City Council contracted Palantir to provide AI-related services in children’s services, initially costing £500,000. The contract was renewed for £750,000 in April 2026.
Palantir has faced serious concerns over its involvement in military and immigration operations, the use of sensitive personal data, data security, value for money, and the growing dependence of public services on private technology companies.
We are also concerned that Coventry residents, council staff and recognised trade unions were not meaningfully consulted before the contract was agreed or renewed.
We believe:
- Public money should strengthen Coventry’s public services and communities, not multinational corporations.
- Sensitive public data should remain under democratic public control.
- Decisions about AI and data should involve meaningful consultation with residents and trade unions.
- Palantir cannot solve staff shortages or excessive workloads - properly funded and staffed public services can.
- Any Contracts the council has should not be with companies involved in human rights breaches
We therefore call on Coventry City Council to:
- Terminate its contract with Palantir and bring these services in-house.
- Consult residents and recognised trade unions on future AI and data decisions.
- Guarantee transparency, accountability and public control over Coventry’s data.
- Invest in properly staffed, publicly delivered services rather than outsourcing them to multinational corporations.
Drop Palantir Now. Keep Coventry’s public services public.
