Tell EdSource: We won't cross the picket line!
EdSource CEO Deborah Clark and the EdSource Board of Directors
Tell EdSource that you won’t cross the digital picket line when we stop working.
Unionized staff at EdSource, the largest education newsroom in California, have voted unanimously to authorize a strike in protest of unilateral changes to healthcare benefits and management’s lack of progress toward a fair contract.
EdSource has:
Changed our health benefits unilaterally — during a period of status quo —, effectively raising our copays and deductibles, and failed to bargain over the changes with the Guild.
Denied cost of living raises that match how much prices go up.
Opposed adequate sick time for employees to take care of ourselves and our family
Rejected strong leave of absence policies, leaving journalists unaware or uninformed of our options and depriving us of sufficient time to bond with newborns or care for ill parents.
Insisted on weak legal protections that put both reporters and sources at risk
Ignored proposals to ensure that artificial intelligence is not deployed in a way that affects the integrity of our journalism
You can support the journalists of EdSource by telling EdSource management that you will not cross the digital picket line.
Our strike means we are withholding our labor in order to highlight how valuable our work is to the organization and our community. You can make a huge difference and join us in sending EdSource management a clear message by not sharing or clicking on EdSource stories or social media posts until our strike is over.

I will honor EdSource Guild’s digital picket line!
I support EdSource’s workers and I’m pledging to not click on EdSource stories or consume any of EdSource’s content during their work stoppage. I urge you to respect their right to bargain and agree to a fair contract now.
The journalists of EdSource take our editorial independence very seriously. We welcome all who support our work to sign this valentine, but wish to make clear that participation in this letter to management does not influence our coverage in any way.
