Tell FIFA: Ban Ticket Scalping

FIFA Council

The World Cup 2026 has been a beautiful celebration. But greed is making ticket prices ugly.

Tickets to the 2026 FIFA World Cup were already the most expensive in history. Then ticket scalpers drove resale ticket prices through the roof. Even national football federations appear to be selling their own ticket allotments at massive markups. And while millions of fans are shut out, others are being ripped off by scammers on third party sites.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino said that because scalping is legal in the United States "we have to of course allow that." But he's wrong. FIFA can set rules that prevent tickets from being resold above face value—something bands like Pearl Jam have been doing for ages. But because FIFA takes a 30% fee on every ticket resold on their platform, they're all too happy to let scalpers gouge fans.

World Cup matches should be a chance for fans to experience the beautiful game, not a way for ticket brokers, football federations and FIFA to rip us off.

Sign our petition demanding that FIFA put fans first and implement new rules that ban scalping.

Football should be for everyone. But the 2026 World Cup has become completely unaffordable for millions of fans—and tickets are going to waste—because individuals, companies and even international football federations are scalping tickets at massive markups.

While many fans are shut out of games, others have bought counterfeit tickets on third-party sites because FIFA is not protecting fans from scammers.

Just because reselling at a premium price is "legal" in some countries does not mean that FIFA has to allow it. FIFA could set rules that tickets can only be resold or exchanged on its own platform, and restrict the resale price to the face value.

We call on President Infantino, Senior Vice-President Shaikh Salman Bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa and the FIFA Council to implement new rules banning the resale or exchange of tickets for above face value for World Cup games and all international soccer matches ticketed by FIFA or FIFA member bodies.
