Tell Gov. Gordon: End Wyoming’s wolf hunts

Wyoming Governor Mark Gordon

In most of Wyoming, wolves can be shot, trapped or run over without a license, permit or limit.

The moment they step beyond the border into this “predator zone” — whether from nearby Colorado or from Yellowstone National Park — even protected wolves lose every safeguard.

Gray wolves were once nearly wiped out across the Lower 48, and their recovery represents one of America’s greatest conservation successes. But in Wyoming, that progress is being undone.

In roughly 85% of the state, wolves can be legally shot, trapped or even run down by snowmobiles without a license, permit, or limit. When wolves cross invisible state lines from Colorado or Yellowstone National Park, they lose nearly every protection.

These brutal practices are inflicting immense suffering on a species that plays a vital role in Wyoming’s ecosystems and food chains.

We urge you to take action to end Wyoming’s cruel wolf hunts and restore meaningful protections for this iconic and ecologically important species.

Wolves deserve to be treated as important wildlife, not targets.
