Missourians need to keep safe voting options during the pandemic. Missouri's COVID-19 voting provisions - which allow absentee voting by those who have or are at high risk for COVID-19, and provide remote voting options for all Missouri voters - are set to expire on December 31, 2020.

Missouri is experiencing record transmissions and deaths and the pandemic is predicted to get worse in coming months. Because of this, you extended Missouri's State of Emergency into 2021. While you extended a number of statutory waivers due to the pandemic, you did not address voting access. When you signed Missouri's COVID-19 voting provisions into law in June, you stated, “Any Missourian affected by COVID-19 should still be able to vote." Missouri's voters need you to make good on that promise.

With upcoming municipal elections in March and April 2021, the need for Missouri's COVID-19 voting provisions remains essential. To ensure that all Missourians can safely cast ballots during the 2021 municipal elections, I urge you to exercise your authority under 44.100 RSMo to extend the December 31, 2020 expiration of Missouri’s COVID voting provisions.
