Tell Idaho Lawmakers: Protect Medicaid Expansion
Idaho Legislators

In 2018, after thousands of Idaho citizens worked to put Medicaid Expansion on the ballot, voters approved the program with 61% of the vote and secured healthcare to tens of thousands of Idahoans.
Unfortunately, Idaho legislators are now attempting to eliminate Medicaid Expansion.
House Bill 138 is being sold as a “reform.” The truth is that the bill would require Medicaid Expansion to be entirely repealed by July 1st, 2026 unless 11 different conditions are met by that date, and several of those conditions are unlawful and therefore impossible to meet.
The repeal of Medicaid Expansion would be catastrophic. 90,000 Idahoans would lose their healthcare, and it would devastate our state budget and economy. Consider this:
- Contrary to claims that the Medicaid Expansion budget is “out of control,” 90% of the cost is covered by federal dollars and the state revenue and savings generated by Medicaid Expansion exceeds the total cost of the program to Idaho taxpayers.
- Medicaid Expansion is generating over 9,000 Idaho jobs, $47 million in annual state tax revenue, and $78 million in annual savings to state and local programs--including savings to state behavioral health programs, local indigent healthcare funds, and substance use disorder services within Idaho's prison system.
- Medicaid Expansion is reducing medical debt, improving credit for thousands of households, and providing Idahoans with the healthcare they need to get back to work.
As special-interest groups work hard to repeal Medicaid Expansion, it's critical that elected officials hear from the people of Idaho. Will you sign the petition and ask Idaho lawmakers to protect Medicaid Expansion?

We, the undersigned, call on you to protect Idaho’s Medicaid Expansion program.
Idahoans passed Medicaid Expansion with 61% of the vote in 2018.
In the years since, Medicaid Expansion has only grown in popularity. A recent poll found that 73% of Idahoans support the program.
House Bill 138, which is being sold as a “reform,” is in fact a flat-out repeal of Medicaid Expansion that would rip away healthcare from 90,000 Idahoans.
Repeal of Medicaid Expansion would also eliminate $47 million in annual state tax revenue and $78 million in annual savings, including savings to state behavioral health programs, local indigent healthcare funds, and substance use disorder services within Idaho's prison system.
We urge you to reject HB 138 and to protect Idaho’s Medicaid Expansion program.
