Tell Joliet No to NorthPoint

Joliet City Council and Mayor OdeKirk

The City of Joliet rushed through a complex annexation of land for the massive NorthPoint warehouse project that will double truck traffic, encroach on the National Midewin Tallgrass Prairie, increase pollution, and ultimately increase property taxes to repair damaged roadways. Furthermore, the existing warehouse complex, CenterPoint has sued the City of Joliet for violating a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). Ultimately, taxpayers will be on the hook for the unnecessary legal fees and court costs affiliated with this suit.

We the undersigned residents of Will County oppose the proposed 3,800 acre warehouse expansion known as NorthPoint. The existing warehouses provide low-wage jobs, create excessive truck traffic and damage to our roadways, ultimately costing taxpayers millions of dollars in infrastructure repairs. NorthPoint is expected to double truck traffic and the city of Joliet is likely to incur hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal bills fighting lawsuits around this issue. We say, “no to NorthPoint.”
