Tell Our Governor that NH Deserves Better!

Governor Kelly Ayotte

Governor Ayotte has done nothing to address the high costs facing Granite Staters today. Our food prices, our electricity costs, and our housing costs continue to rise. Meanwhile her party is wasting taxpayer money in Concord by attempting to ban offshore wind energy, gut the renewable energy fund, make healthcare more expensive for everyday people, and defund public education. All of these terrible decisions that cost everyday Granite Staters are happening at the benefit of fossil fuel companies, private schools, and millionaire corporations.

Governor Ayotte and her party are also passing a budget through the state house that makes massive cuts. The budget includes:

  • Gutting the renewable energy fund (which helps communities with local energy projects)
  • Cuts to prescription drug savings programs
  • Elimination of the Family Planning Program
  • Cuts to Medicaid and a healthcare income tax that forces low income residents to pay higher insurance fees
  • Elimination of the Housing Appeals Board and the Housing Champion grant fund
  • $80 million cuts to the University System of New Hampshire
  • Increased funding for school voucher programs and underfunding of public schools
  • Elimination of food assistance programs for parents

This is just a fraction of what's in (and not in) the upcoming budget. We're underfunding and neglecting our environment, healthcare, education, housing, and essential services that we rely on. Property taxes are going to go up as towns are forced to scrape by with even less state funding.

This legislative session has not been in the service of Granite Staters. We deserve a better budget. We deserve a better New Hampshire. Sign our petition to Governor Ayotte to demand better. We will be delivering this petition to her office before the budget is put into law.

Thank you.

Granite Staters are facing high costs of living and our legislators have spent this session prioritizing more tax cuts for the wealthy instead of serving their constituents. Food prices, electricity costs, and housing costs continue to rise. Meanwhile legislators are attempting to ban offshore wind energy, gut the renewable energy fund, make healthcare more expensive for everyday people, and defund public education. All of these terrible decisions that cost everyday Granite Staters are happening at the benefit of fossil fuel companies, private schools, and millionaire corporations.

The current budget is not good for New Hampshire. We, the undersigned, demand a better budget for our state. Right now the budget includes:
- Gutting the renewable energy fund (which helps communities with local energy projects)
- Cuts to prescription drug savings programs
- Elimination of the Family Planning Program
- Cuts to Medicaid and a healthcare income tax that forces low income residents to pay higher insurance fees
- Elimination of the Housing Appeals Board and the Housing Champion grant fund
- $80 million cuts to the University System of New Hampshire
- Increased funding for school voucher programs and underfunding of public schools
- Elimination of food assistance programs for parents

We're underfunding and neglecting our environment, healthcare, education, housing, and essential services that we rely on. Property taxes are going to go up as towns are forced to scrape by with even less state funding. This legislative session has not been in the service of Granite Staters. We deserve a better budget. We deserve a better New Hampshire.
