Earlier this month on Instagram Live, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez courageously came forward to share her harrowing experience during the January 6 insurrection. She also revealed the fact that she is a sexual assault survivor.

She tied the two experiences together because both events involved abusers who willfully and dangerously spread disinformation to incite violence, and then gaslighted the survivor by telling her to "move on"—a typical tactic used to discredit and further abuse survivors.

"And to those who wish to paper over their misdeeds by rushing us to all 'move on' - we can move on when the individuals responsible are held to account," Rep. Ocasio-Cortez courageously posted on social media.
