Tell Sea 3 Providence Terminal and ProvPort to reject Venezuela's shipment of LPG!
Sea 3 Providence Terminal and ProvPort
A shipment of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from Venezuela is scheduled to arrive at the Sea-3 Providence Terminal as soon as this Saturday. This shipment comes in the wake of aggressive and widely condemned actions by the Trump Administration against Venezuela, including economic coercion, interference in the country’s sovereignty, and efforts to seize control of its energy resources.
We are calling on Sea-3 and ProvPort to refuse this shipment of LPG as this cargo is tied to questionable, potentially unlawful fossil fuel practices and would bring more dangerous, highly flammable fuel into a port already surrounded by homes. South Providence and Washington Park communities have already faced repeated fires and pollution from port facilities. Signing this petition means standing up for community safety, public health, and the principle that Providence should not be a dumping ground for risky fossil fuel operations.

We, the undersigned residents of Rhode Island and Providence call on Sea-3 Providence Terminal to refuse the scheduled shipment of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) originating from Venezuela and expected to arrive at the Port of Providence on February 7th.
We oppose the acceptance, offloading, and storage of this cargo because it would further endanger our communities and implicate Providence in harmful and potentially unlawful fossil fuel practices.
South Providence and Washington Park residents already live in the shadow of a heavily industrialized port that has a documented history of pollution, hazardous emissions, and repeated fires. Bringing additional highly flammable petrochemical products into this densely populated area increases the risk of accidents, toxic exposure, and public health harms for families, children, seniors, and neighbors who call this neighborhood home.
Providence should not serve as a gateway for controversial or illegally seized fossil fuels, nor should our city function as a sacrifice zone for corporate profit. Our communities deserve clean air, safe neighborhoods, and a port that prioritizes people over polluters.
By accepting this shipment, Sea-3 would deepen environmental and public health risks that frontline communities have already borne for far too long. By rejecting it, Sea-3 has an opportunity to stand with Providence residents, respect community safety, and take a meaningful step toward more responsible operations at the Port.
We therefore urge Sea-3 Providence Terminal and ProvPort to immediately reject this LPG shipment and commit to safer, more transparent, and community-centered practices moving forward.
