TELL TENCENT GAMES: NO FACIAL RECOGNITION ON KIDS!
Tencent Games
Gaming company Tencent just announced they’re going to use facial recognition to bust kids who stay up late playing video games. Yes. Really.
The system, rolled out this week, will force everyone to submit to face scans, which will be matched up with third-party data, in order to track how much time they’re spending playing games.
Experimenting with tools of mass surveillance on kids is a bad idea. Who knows how this could hurt kids psychologically or what the companies could do with the face scans once they collect them.
If there isn’t a big backlash now, more companies could follow suit. We have to tell game companies that they should not use facial recognition kids or anyone!

Petition:
Dear Tencent Games,
Using facial recognition to track kids using your games is wrong. This technology is extremely invasive and could have long-lasting effects on the psychological development of our children. Stop forcing people to submit to facial recognition scans now.
