Tell the CEOs of AEP, Nationwide & L Brands: Stop Supporting Trump
Les Wexner, CEO, L Brands; Nick Akins, CEO, AEP; and Steve Rasmussen, CEO, Nationwide
Sign our petition to ask local business leaders to stop supporting Steve Stivers and the Trump agenda.
Background
On Thursday, supporters of Congressman Stivers will gather for a high-dollar fundraiser (minimum entry: $500) in downtown Columbus, headlined by three local business leaders:
- Les Wexner - CEO of L Brands, who lives in Bexley, in Pat Tiberi's district
- Steve Rasmussen - CEO of Nationwide, who resides in Joyce Beatty's district, and
- Nick Akins - CEO of AEP, who also resides in the Tiberi district
Why are prominent Central Ohio business leaders donating thousands to Congressman who is not even in their district, when his own constituents can't get him to hold an in-person town hall?
Do Wexner, Rasmussen and Akins and by extension, L Brands, Nationwide and AEP endorse the Stivers agenda? In 2018, Stivers has
- voted to allow coal companies to pollute Ohio streams, let people with mental illnesses buy guns and permit internet providers to sell our personal browsing data
- supported huge tax cuts for the rich, paid for by eliminating healthcare for 24 million people
- called his own constituents "paid protesters" and refused to hold a town hall
Do Wexner, Rasmussen and Akins, and, by extension, L Brands, Nationwide and AEP endorse the Trump agenda of mass deportation, immigration bans, possible collusion with foreign actors to influence our elections and drastic cuts to programs like Great Lakes restoration and Meals on Wheals, which Stivers' National Republican Campaign Committee wants to rubber stamp via an even larger GOP majority?
With so many real challenges facing Central Ohio, we expect our local business leaders to put the money they earn here to better use supporting noble causes instead of spending buying politicians and enabling the Trump agenda.

I am disappointed to learn that you are hosting a fundraiser for a political action committee headed up by my Congressman, Steve Stivers.
Stivers' votes in Congress are out of step with the mainstream, such as his decision to allow people with mental illnesses to purchase guns or to vote to eliminate healthcare for 24 million Americans. His PAC works to elect more Republicans to Congress and give Donald Trump a blank check to enact his extreme agenda and avoid real oversight.
