Tell the EPA to Keep the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program

The EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program is an important source of data collection and an important tool used to cut pollution, minimize wasted energy, and save money. It provides real data to the public about how much climate pollution is being created and who is creating it.

However, the Trump EPA proposed removing the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program, a move that would prevent public access to this important information. This is part of their Polluters First Agenda, making oil and gas CEOs richer while we pay the price. Trump, Lee Zeldin, and their polluter buddies would keep the public in the dark about the amount of deadly, dangerous and expensive pollution they produce. I write to express my deep concern about the administration’s proposal to end the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program, which requires polluters to disclose the levels of climate pollution they produce. This program allows public access to that vital information, keeping us safe and healthy and holding the polluters accountable through transparency.

Gutting the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program would give polluters a free pass to keep people in the dark. Without this information, the Trump administration is leaving American families with dirtier air, rising health risks, and escalating climate disasters..

Hiding information about pollution will not make climate change disappear. It will only make it more expensive and difficult to deal with and it will let polluters off the hook. I oppose the Trump EPA’s proposal to eliminate the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Program. We need transparency for a safe climate.
