Sign this petition to tell the Feather River College Board of Trustees that you oppose the special deal for Feather River College (FRC) President/Superintendent at taxpayer expense!

CSEA Feather River College Chapter 0712 strongly opposes the granting of lifetime benefits to FRC President/Superintendent Dr. Kevin Trutna. We believe that the Board of Trustees violated Senate Bill 1436 (2017) at the December 2018 Board meeting when they approved Dr. Trutna’s lifetime benefits as part of his employment contract renewal.

SB 1436 calls for openness and transparency when approving executive compensation. The bill’s author states that executive compensation packages for local agency executives deserve particular scrutiny by the public. The public is YOU, the taxpayers of Plumas County who will pay for this lifetime benefit package upon his retirement from FRC.

Important fiscal information that the board failed to disclose prior to their vote includes Dr. Trutna’s $204,000 annual salary and $7,200 annual expense allowance. Nor did they provide an estimate of the fiscal impact of lifelong benefits which currently cost the college $28,000 a year. He also receives matching contributions to his 403(b) retirement account.

CSEA Chapter 0712 believes you have been denied the right to see the full financial obligation of the Board’s decision and its potential long-term fiscal impact to Feather River College. We strongly urge you to contact the Board of Trustees to reconsider their position on lifetime benefits for the President/Superintendent of FRC. This action sets a troubling precedent and amounts to frivolous expense of taxpayer dollars.

Sign this petition to tell the FRC Board of Trustees you oppose the special deal for the FRC President/Superintendent. And join concerned citizens at the FRC Board of Trustees Meeting on February 14th, 2019 at 570 Golden Eagle Ave. Quincy, CA 95971 at 3:00 PM.

We, concerned citizens and taxpayers of Plumas County, oppose the granting of lifetime benefits to Feather River College President/Superintendent Dr. Kevin Trutna. The same benefits are not extended to other Feather River College employees and the Board of Trustees have not sought enough public input on this executive compensation package.
