Say No to CMP's Proposed $216 Rate Hike!
Maine Public Utilities Commission
Heads up! CMP is seeking two new rate hikes: one on July 1, 2026, and another in May of next year. If the PUC approves, the average CMP customer will pay $216 more each year.
Last year, we beat back another proposed CMP rate hike. We rallied. We organized into a coalition called Fight the Hike. We submitted over 800 public comments. We testified. And in the end, the PUC listened. For the first time ever, a CMP rate hike proposal was denied. We won last year, and together we can win now too.
Please sign our petition today! We will pass along your name and any comment to the PUC, and keep you posted on actions we can take together to Fight the Hike!

Dear Maine PUC:
We count on electricity to keep us safe and healthy. For most Mainers, Central Maine Power is the only company you allow to deliver our power. Yet too many CMP customers are struggling with high prices. Too many are disconnected right now, unable to pay their winter bills.
It is tone deaf for CMP's distant investors to demand a rate hike this July -- taken from our expected rate reduction -- and another, larger increase next May.
We are asking you: Please tell CMP to pay its fair share. CMP's investors should pay more for grid investments and jobs from their profits -- and less from our pockets.
For each $1 invested, CMP gets back at least $2 from captive customers. It's too much. And Maine's electricity rates are already some of the highest in the nation. We cannot afford more CMP rate hikes.
Thank you for reading our petition. We are counting on you to stand up for what's right.
