Tell the PSC "NO" on the BGE Rate Hike

Maryland Public Service Commission

Baltimore heat waves are straining our grid and our pocketbooks more than ever. If the Maryland Public Service Commission approves BGE’s proposed $156 million rate hike, we know staying cool through the summer months will be more costly than ever.

We the undersigned urge the PSC to reject BGE’s proposed $156 million rate hike (Case No. 9888) which, among other things, increases BGE’s already outrageous profits and reduces oversight on spending.

The Maryland General Assembly has made clear that utilities should not be allowed to ask for additional money if they spend more than projected on a mult-year rate plan, yet BGE is back again asking for higher customer bills to pay for spending and profits in 2023 and 2026.

BGE is failing on customer service, safety, and budget oversight. Please don’t throw good money after bad: Reject the BGE rate hike request and increase oversight of the company’s profits and spending.
