Tell the SSA: We need more Social Security field offices, not less!
Social Security Administration
This is the new, silent war against Social Security: Let the leases on field offices lapse without any plan to re-open new offices.
Last month, we reported that the Social Security Administration (SSA) was closing a field office on Milwaukee’s south side. Now, we’ve learned of planned field office closures in Virginia and Maryland. Republicans have tried to cut our benefits, but we fought back and stopped their cuts. Then they tried to defund the program’s customer service, but we fought back and won increased funding. Now, they’re trying to kill off Social Security one office at a time.
Is yours next?
We have known all along that undermining Social Security is the new war on our earned benefits. And right now we have a Congress and a president who are actively working to destroy Social Security.
SSA field offices are full of trained, caring workers who are there to help you as an individual, not a number on a spreadsheet. SSA workers are crucial in helping us claim our benefits―often at the most vulnerable, stressful times in our lives. And at a time when 10,000 baby boomers turn 65 each day, we need more Social Security field offices, not less!
Stand with Social Security Works to shine a spotlight on this underhanded scheme to destroy Social Security. Sign the petition telling the SSA that we need more Social Security field offices, not less!

Social Security field offices play a crucial role in our communities―helping retirees, surviving spouses, and people with disabilities claim our Social Security benefits. These caring, trained individuals are there for us at the most vulnerable, stressful times in our lives. We demand that you stop closing Social Security field offices. At a time when 10,000 baby boomers turn 65 each day, we need more field offices, not less!
