Dear Mr. Domingo de Ampuero y Osma;

We’re writing you in support of the union workers at Viscofan’s plant in Danville, Illinois, who are members of United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 686. As you already know, your company has been successful in the past year, and that growth is centered on the work done by these workers and others in North America. But while you’re enjoying increases in profits and sales, these workers are clearly being hurt by the plant. The Danville plant had 18 violations of U.S. health and safety law in the last seven years and your company has refused union proposals to improve the safety of their workplace.

Success shouldn’t come at the expense of the health and safety of your workers. The Viscofan plant is an integral part of the Danville community and we count on the good, safe, family-supporting jobs it provides. Please send your negotiators back to the table with an edict to make your plant safer, our community stronger and our success shared.
