The Post’s staff guild is pushing back. “The Washington Post wrongly fired Opinions columnist Karen Attiah over her social media posts,” the paper’s staff guild wrote in a statement. “The Post not only flagrantly disregarded standard disciplinary processes, it also undermined its own mandate to be a champion of free speech.”

Charlie Kirk used divisive language to tear down democracy. Karen Attiah speaks truth to defend it. By siding with Kirk over Attiah, Bezos has betrayed the Post’s mission, its readers, and the very idea of a free press.

Jeff Bezos must reverse course now. Reinstating Karen Attiah would show that the Washington Post stands with truth—not fear, not profit, and not Trump’s extremist allies. If Bezos refuses, it proves he values power and money over democracy.
