Thank You To The University of Minnesota for Declaring Institutional Neutrality!
Rebecca Cunningham, President of the University of Minnesota and Members of the Board of Regents

The University of Minnesota has recently declared institutional neutrality and academic departments will no longer be allowed to issue statements on political issues that do not directly affect the school. This is an important step in protecting academic freedom and ensuring the free speech rights of Zionist students and staff. Please show your support!

Dear President Cunningham and Members of the Board of Regents,
We were delighted to read that the University of Minnesota has declared institutional neutrality on matters that do not directly impact the university. In doing so, the university has signaled an admirable return to core academic principles like freedom of thought, ideological pluralism, debate, and the pursuit of truth — none of which are possible when faculty have already announced the “right” answer.
Nothing has done more to undermine public trust in universities than the perception that many academics are more committed to partisan political activism than scholarship. Furthermore, the extremism of some professors has encouraged a surge of antisemitism and disruptive protests on campus, both of which are antithetical to education. In adopting institutional neutrality, the University of Minnesota has taken an important step towards reversing this trend.
I urge you to prioritize ideological diversity in hiring and admissions, as political and ideological homogeneity can have the same chilling effect on the free exchange of ideas as an official statement.
Thank you for taking a stand for free speech and free thought.
Sincerely,
