After years of declines in a struggling journalism industry, Inquirer CEO and publisher Lisa Hughes started 2026 with some welcome news.

Last year, The Inquirer saw its first year-over-year revenue increase since 2004. It has been a long road, and it hasn't been easy. Our members weathered furloughs, layoffs, and years of uncertainty — all in the name of keeping this institution alive. But as Hughes wrote, we are at a turning point. The work we produce has proven to readers, policymakers, and civic and business leaders throughout our region that The Inquirer is a vital asset worthy of your investment: "In the end, that is what people will pay for.”

We feel the same way. Our future is bright. And it's time to invest in the workers who make it so.

The NewsGuild of Greater Philadelphia represents over 220 employees at The Inquirer who create the journalism, social media, advertising, and multiplatform technology that our subscribers rely on every day. Working through some of the hardest years this industry has ever seen, we broke stories that changed policy, built the digital tools that kept readers and viewers engaged, and showed up — every single day — to keep you informed.

Simply put, there is no future to invest in without us.
